Hello Auntie

Marrickville is the place for Vietnamese cuisine. There are classics, and the new players, all seemingly next door to each other (literally). And of course, you can never go past Marrickville Pork Roll…

Hello Auntie is one of the newer players. Advertising itself as Vietnamese fusion, it draws inspiration from Korea and the Middle East, and has a rustic style – low tables and stools in the front, and restaurant style seating in the back.

Going on Good Friday was always going to be interesting. We arrived just after 6 and the place was quite happening. Luckily we got a seat, obviously speaks to the popularity. We ordered a drink and set about the menu, with chicken and prawn skewers, a BBH (a Pho with everything, it seems) and Gemma ordered something I have yet to figure out.

All in all, the meals were a hearty fusion of Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. A cozy place that will keep you warm in winter, and refresh you in summer.
