Gasthaus Alt Wien

Brendon May 06, 2017 Europe, Restaurant Visits Leave a Comment

Gasthaus Alt Wien (lit. translation: Old Wine Guest House) is a small restaurant in East Berlin that serves traditional German and Austrian cuisine. It is a small, cozy place that makes you feel warm and fuzzy when you enter.

The menu is small, but doesn’t try to overreach. I ordered the Weiner Schnitzel, while Gemma got the Beef Goulash. The Goulash had all the hallmarks of comfort food: A warm, hearty stew with melt in your mouth beef and a bread pudding side. My schnitzel was a classic veal schnitzel, with a cucumber pickled salad which was quite enjoyable.

All in all, if you want a place to cozy up on a cold Berlin night, Alt Wein Gast Haus fits the bill.
